VIDEOGRAPHER
Goltara
We are pleased
to present…
At Best of Portugal Weddings, we believe there are artists who don’t just capture a wedding, they transform it into an eternal memory. Claudiney Goltara is one of those artists, a storyteller who experiences love through his lens.
His relationship with video began early, in his teenage years, when he discovered the magic of moving images. By the age of 12, he was already dreaming of bringing stories to life through the camera, and by 15, he was working professionally, filming events with a passion and dedication unusual for his age. That fascination never left him.
Although he explored different professional paths, ranging from commerce and music to advertising and even political marketing, Ney discovered that his true calling was in audiovisual storytelling. Married since the age of 23, he decided to dedicate himself solely to his two greatest passions: family and wedding cinema.
At Goltara Filmes, every project is built on a simple yet powerful principle: the couple’s story is at the heart of everything. Ney doesn’t get lost in fleeting trends or artificial edits; what he seeks is authenticity, emotion, and timelessness. The result is films that withstand the test of time, cinematic pieces that, even decades later, still evoke the same chills and sparkle in the eyes.
His work combines the sensitivity of someone who lives each wedding as if it were his own, with the most advanced technical tools: 12K digital cinema cameras, cutting-edge technology, and editing crafted with art and poetry. But for Ney, the most important thing isn’t the camera, it’s the connection he creates with the couple. He laughs, cries, and celebrates with them. This closeness results in a natural record, where every gesture and glance is transformed into genuine memories.
Always attentive to industry developments, Ney innovated with the Instant Wedding Video, a concept that redefines the idea of the Same Day Edit. Instead of a long video shown at the end of the celebration, he created a short, artistic version designed to be experienced and shared on a smartphone, on the very same day of the wedding. An immediate keepsake with cinematic quality.
What sets Ney Goltara apart is not only his technique, but the way he embraces each story. For him, the unpredictable challenges of a wedding are not obstacles, but opportunities to capture the essence of what truly matters to the couple.
In his vision, wedding films should be timeless, true capsules of emotion that unite art, poetry, and truth. And that’s why, when it comes to transforming love into cinema, the name Ney Goltara is synonymous with trust, emotion, and authenticity.
Step into the world of art…
When did you discover your passion for cinema and love stories?
My story with video began at the age of 12, when I would spend hours watching music videos on MTV and Hollywood films. I was fascinated by the creative world that revolved around this art—it felt as if anything I dreamed of could come to life through moving images. Soon after, I saved up and bought my first VHS camera. I filmed school projects, church plays, and then “tried” to edit using two VCRs and an analog mixing board. That’s when my passion was born. By the age of 15, I was already working professionally in event video production.
What was the moment in your professional life when you realized, “This is what I want to do forever”?
Where does your creative inspiration come from outside of weddings (music, cinema, travel, people…)?
Over the years, I pursued other professional projects, as my entire family is involved in commerce and construction materials. I owned a supermarket, a bakery, a fruit pulp distribution company, a computer repair shop, a music studio, an advertising agency, and even worked in political marketing. I got married at 23 and realized that balancing so many ventures with family life was becoming a challenge. So I decided to focus solely on my two greatest passions: my family and audiovisual production.
In your view, what distinguishes your cinematographic/documentary style?
I believe my style stands out because I put the couple’s story at the center of every production. I don’t alter the personalities of the couple during editing nor follow fleeting “trends.” My goal is to create timeless films, true emotional memories that hold immeasurable sentimental value. I want couples to feel pride and a desire to share their love story every time they watch their video.
Your Instant Wedding Video (IWV) service—can you explain how the idea came about and how it works in practice?
The idea of the Instant Wedding Video came from the old concept of the Same Day Edit. I always thought it was interesting for the couple to have access to a preview of their big day, but I never resonated with the original format, which was often too long, automatically edited, and shown at the end of the party, when the couple and guests were already tired. This led to the creation of the Instant Wedding Video: a shorter, artistically edited video designed to be shared immediately and viewed directly on a smartphone, not projected.
How do you introduce innovation in your videos (e.g., drone, multi-camera setups, editing techniques, storytelling)?
All of my services and packages provide cutting-edge technology, regardless of the couple’s budget. I film events with a 12K digital cinema camera and always stay up to date with the latest industry innovations. This way, all couples are guaranteed the highest production quality, with pricing differences determined only by the cinematic style they choose.
Have you ever faced limitations that challenged your creativity (time, venue, weather conditions, lighting)? How did you overcome them?
Challenges are present in every event. We, as videographers and photographers, are among the few professionals who rarely know what the environment will be like: different venues, varying schedules, unpredictable lighting… At each wedding, we have to make difficult decisions: what to film, when to film, and how to film. For me, the answer always starts with one essential question: “What is truly important to the couple?” From there, we can guide the entire workflow on the big day.
How do you maintain a balance between capturing spontaneous moments and ensuring “planned” or “choreographed” shots?
This balance comes from a natural relationship with the couple. I am very spontaneous and enjoy conversing, which allows me to stop being “the videographer” and just be “Ney.” This closeness creates a unique connection that helps me anticipate many of the gestures and moments the couple will experience. This way, I only need to be in the right place and press REC. Most of the time, they don’t even realize they’re being filmed—and the footage turns out amazing.
What moves you the most on a wedding day?
I often say that I experience the wedding almost as the couple themselves do. I laugh, cry, and interact with the guests. By ceasing to be just the videographer, I carry the day’s emotions in my heart. One moment that always moves me is filming the couple in intimate, tender moments. For me, this is the true meaning of a wedding: the love and complicity that unite them.
What has been the most beautiful or surprising feedback you’ve ever received from a couple about your work?
All couples leave kind and touching words that deeply move me. But there was a special moment I will never forget: at a wedding in Lisbon, the bride approached me in the middle of the celebration, asked for a hug, and said, “I’m so happy and emotional that you came. It was my dream for you to film my perfect wedding.” Those words were so genuine that I cried with her. The guests saw, joined us, and embraced us. It was a moment of pure love and positive energy.
What is the greatest lesson couples and their stories have taught you?
The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that there is no problem that love and goodwill cannot overcome. Life is brief, and what truly matters is spreading joy, helping others, and nurturing good relationships. In the end, only memories remain—and the happy ones are eternal.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself at the beginning of your career?
I believe that all the difficulties and challenges we face are part of our personal and professional growth. I wouldn’t change a thing. If I could leave just one message, it would be: “Keep moving forward!”
Looking to the future, what are your aspirations for Goltara Filmes? Are there new formats, international expansion, collaborations, or different types of videos you would like to explore?
My vision for the future of Goltara Filmes is to make it increasingly cinematic, creating scenes inspired by the compositions of cinema and visual art. I want to unite these two languages with each couple’s story, so they have a poetic, light, inspiring film that stays true to who they really are. It’s a demanding and complex process, but I believe that with love and dedication, we can achieve it—together with the couples.
